A Fredericton man scheduled to stand trial this spring on drug-trafficking and other charges from last year opted instead Thursday to admit to his crimes.

Christopher Frank Betts, 54, of Smythe Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac on Thursday.

It was a previously unscheduled appearance, as he was scheduled to stand trial on various charges in March, April and May.

But defence counsel Daniel Leger told the court Thursday that they’d reached a resolution with the Crown, and that his client was changing all of his pleas to guilty.
