Two injured in morning crash
Multi-vehicle collision that forced closure of Brookside Drive roundabout for hours remains under investigation, says Fredericton Police Force, reporting that no arrests, charges as yet
An accident involving multiple vehicles in a busy northside intersection forced the closure of the key transportation infrastructure for several hours Tuesday and sent two people to hospital with indeterminate injuries, Fredericton police reported.
The Fredericton Police Force issued an advisory through social media at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday about a major accident on the city’s north side.

“Fredericton police are on scene at a multi-vehicle collision at the Brookside Drive roundabout,” it said.
“The intersection will be closed for the next few hours as first responders and investigators work at the scene.”
In an update early Tuesday evening, the police force provided more details about the incident, noting that it remains under active investigation.
“At approximately 11:45 a.m. today, the Fredericton Police Force, Fredericton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick (EMS) responded to a three‑vehicle motor-vehicle collision at the Brookside Drive roundabout,” spokesperson Sonya Gilks wrote in an email to the Fredericton Independent.
“Two individuals were transported to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital with injuries as a result of the collision. The extent of those injuries is not known at this time.”
She said members of the force’s collision analysis team and its forensic identification unit were also at the scene to conduct an investigation into the accident.

“The intersection was closed for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders and investigators to complete their work,” Gilks wrote.
“No arrests have been made or charges laid at this time; however, the matter remains under investigation.”
The police force said at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday that traffic was flowing again.
“The accident at Brookside Drive roundabout has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal,” it posted on Facebook at that time.
