Collision closes uptown intersection Friday
Fredericton police respond to two-car crash at Prospect Street/Hanwell Road around 3 p.m.
A busy uptown intersection will be closed into the evening rush hour Friday following a two-vehicle accident mid-afternoon, the Fredericton Police Force advises.
Fredericton police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hanwell Road and Propsect Street shortly after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision, city police spokesperson Sonya Gilks told the Fredericton Independent on Friday.

Ambulance and fire department personnel also attended the scene, she said.
“The extent of the injuries and the cause of the accident are unknown at this time,” she wrote in an email.
“The intersection will be closed for the next one to two hours. A forensic collision analyst team is going to the scene.”
The police force advised people on social media to avoid the area, to expect delays and to look at taking alternate routes during their evening commute.
