City man denies fatal-impaired charges

A Fredericton man accused of causing the death of the mother of his children by allegedly driving a motorcycle while high last year denied the allegations in court last week.
Brandon Robert Reid, 37, of Douglas Avenue, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video conference from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Friday to answer to several Oct. 25, 2024, charges.

Defence counsel Alex Pate said his client was electing to be tried in provincial court and pleaded not guilty to driving while impaired by cocaine and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and thereby causing the death of Justine Paul, having an elevated blood-drug concentration within two hours of driving and causing her death, and dangerous driving causing her death.
