Tom Van Velzen, 20, of Boyne Court, was accompanied in Fredericton provincial court Friday by defence counsel Spencer MacInnis, scheduled for pleas on two summary charges.

The defendant faces counts of assaulting an unnamed minor with a weapon (a knife) and unlawfully confining that same complainant, both in Fredericton on Jan. 11.
