A Fredericton man accused of perpetrating sex crimes against a minor more than a decade ago in the Grand Lake area will stand trial on those allegations in early 2027.

James Matthew Clifford, 45, of Granada Avenue, was scheduled to be back before Fredericton provincial court Friday to elect mode of trial and enter pleas on three indictable charges alleging offences against a minor years ago.

He’s accused of touching that underage complainant for a sexual purpose between Jan. 1 and Aug. 3, 2011; sexually assaulting the same minor between Jan. 1, 2011, and June 1, 2013; and touching the child for a sexual purpose while in a position of trust and/or authority over that person between Jan. 1, 2011, and June 1, 2013.
