Prosecution against Colin Jaffar Rogers, 28, of Fredericton, for alleged uptown robbery, aggravated-assault offences resumes following two months of psychiatric treatment

A Fredericton man who was deemed unfit to stand trial two months ago on allegations of robbery and a knife attack is now mentally fit once again after treatment at a psychiatric facility.

Colin Jaffar Rogers, 28, of Westbrook Lane, appeared before the Fredericton provincial court by video conference Friday, scheduled for a new fitness hearing.

He’s charged with aggravated assault on Joseph Godin by wounding him and endangering his life, assault on Godin with a utility knife, robbery by assaulting Godin, possession of a machete for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, assault on Fredericton police Const. Deana Joka and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from an incident at Canadian Tire on Smythe Street on March 20.
