Becky Arseneault experienced a pain unlike any other this year, every parent’s nightmare. Her 14-year-old daughter, Layla Rodgerson, was one of the three young people killed in a car crash May 5 on Fredericton’s north side.

Such a horror could understandably force a mother to shut down, withdraw into herself, but Arseneault has channeled her pain into an effort to try to spare other parents from experiencing what she did and still does.

“I am hoping to help spread awareness through a campaign I have started to honour my daughter’s life,” she told the Fredericton Independent.

“I am hoping to spread the message that youth can make many choices to prevent them from being in similar situations.”
