A Burton man who admitted to 18 crimes had hoped to serve his time in the community, but a judge said Monday she had no confidence he could follow conditions.

Jamie Leonard Michael Graham, 48, of Ian Street, pleaded guilty in October to a long list of crimes, most of which he perpetrated over the past year, and he appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video conference from jail Monday for a sentencing hearing.

Among his crimes were 11 instances of shoplifting in the capital region at Kent Building Supplies, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Atlantic Superstore and two different NB Liquor stores between April and July.

He also violated court orders, including a probation order and a driving prohibition.
