Bail hearing delayed in fatal-stabbing case
Counsel for 17-year-old boy accused of second-degree murder awaits Crown disclosure
A teenager accused of killing a Sitansik (St. Mary’s) First Nation elder sought to delay his bail hearing Wednesday, as the defence said it wanted to review the Crown file before proceeding.
A 17-year-old boy charged with second-degree murder in the June 21 stabbing death of Mark “Barnzie” Albert Brooks II on Fredericton’s north side appeared in court Wednesday by telephone from the youth jail in Miramichi.

The defendant can’t be named, as his identity is protected under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Wednesday’s proceeding was to schedule the underage accused’s bail hearing, but lawyer Adrian Forsythe, appearing as an agent for defence counsel Nathan Gorham, asked for an adjournment.
