A Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation man accused of aggravated assault from last month thought he had a lawyer, court heard Thursday, but it turns out he still needs to apply for legal aid.
Salem Gordon Leon Paul, 29, of Veterans Court, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Thursday, scheduled for election of mode of trial and plea.
He’s accused of an indictable count of committing an aggravated assault on Jeff Paul on Nov. 30 at Bilijk First Nation by wounding, maiming, disfiguring and endangering his life.
